Recorded over a period of seven months in a proficient studio in Virginia, "Kristallnacht," the artist's tenth studio album, will feature eleven new King Virtue compositions, including the debut single "Hey Steve." "My inspiration to write a holocaust inspired album came shortly after I heard about the 2002 movie called 'The Pianist'. I was drawn to the idea about how one man's love for music got him through a very rough period in his life. While recording, I began researching as much as possible about the holocaust and then incorporated the stories into the songs, " stated King Virtue regarding the inspiration for his latest album. While the individual themes of "Kristallnacht" range from vague to specific, each track is sequenced to represent a chapter in this story about the holocaust. The album opens with "Hey Steve," a song about hope, healing and looking toward the future, before going back in time to reminisce on a life on the brink of being destroyed in a world of war and anti-Semitism in the 1930-40's. Themes flow from violence ("Shoot It All Down"), to deportation ("Moving On,"), and World War II ("Freedom From The Barrel Of A Gun") as you adventure through the story. More specific themes include Anne Frank ("A Girl Named Anne"), the night of broken glass ("Kristallnacht"), and the escape from Sobibor ("The Truth About Sobibor"). The "Kristallnacht" CD includes the title track, as well as the following songs: "Hey Steve," "Shoot It All Down," "Let Love Be," "A Girl Named Anne," "Moving On," "On The Train To Auschwitz," "The Truth About Sobibor," "Why Did I Survive?," "Freedom From The Barrel Of A Gun," and "America." Just as the title portrays gleam and glisten with its ironic connotations, the macabre lyrics are set to melodic melodies and catchy beats that may seem to romanticize the horrific events that took place. "She's proof that a dream can be stopped by someone's hate," a sad yet ironic line from "A Girl Named Anne." King Virtue has yet to announce plans for live performances in support of "Kristallnacht," but insists he is looking forward to performing in 2003 in support of his latest single "Hey Steve." His last promo tour was in 2002 in support of "Driven: Songs Vol.2" and "This Is Christmas," which included thirty performances in two months. Any future dates will be posted on his official web site: www.kingvirtue.com BIOGRAPHY Singer/songwriter King Virtue is a unique recording artist from Chesapeake, Virginia who began recording in the fall of 1996.
