Creative Commons, Warner Bros. Records, and Machine Shop Recordings are proud to present the Fort Minor Remix Contest. Fort Minor is offering the separated audio elements of "Remember the Name" online under a Creative Commons BY-NC license, so that producers all over the world can easily create remixes of the hit song.

Who is Fort Minor? Apparently it is fronted by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park infamy, so if you've not heard of the band, that means you're not some angsty emo-teen. So pat yourself on the back and be proud of yourself for being a contributing member of society. [This paragraph is not part of the original article, though it should be. To enter, produce a remix of Fort Minor's "Remember the Name" (download the audio sources here) and upload it to ccMixter between March 22, 2006 and May 6, 2006. All entries must be licensed to the public under a CC BY-NC license. After all eligible entries have been received, Fort Minor's Mike Shinoda will choose a winning remix. The producer of the winning remix will be awarded a new Technics SL-1200MK5 turntable, courtesy of Warner Bros. Records and Machine Shop Recordings.

Your remix must include the vocal track from "Remember the Name." You may, but are not required to, also include other elements from the original version of the song in your remix. You can download the album version of "Remember the Name" for free by visiting Fort Minor's MySpace page.

Note: You are free to use music licensed under CC BY or CC BY-NC, audio in the public domain, and your own original sounds in your remix. Submissions that include music that you don't have permission to use will become ineligible.
